Dr Gurdeep S Dulay, Consultant Rheumatologist

Dr Gurdeep S. Dulay is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician. He is a Consultant at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, where he has worked in both rheumatology and general medicine since 2017, and is Clinical Director for General Medicine.

His broad medical experience allows him to look at the whole picture, which matters most when symptoms are complex or difficult to explain. He provides personalised, evidence-based care, and takes the time to listen to each patient, understand their symptoms, and explain the diagnosis and treatment options clearly.

Dr Dulay qualified in medicine from the University of Southampton and has been practising since 2007. He completed all of his postgraduate training in the Wessex region and is dual-trained in Rheumatology and General (Internal) Medicine.

He sees private patients at Spire Portsmouth Hospital in Havant and Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital in Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh.

Patient-centred care

Good rheumatology care starts with listening.

Rheumatological symptoms can be complex and may affect many parts of a person's life. Dr Dulay's approach is to understand the patient's symptoms and medical history, arrange appropriate investigations, and explain the findings and treatment options in clear, straightforward language.

His aim is to help patients understand what may be causing their symptoms, and to provide a practical, individualised plan for their care.

Why dual training matters

Looking beyond the joints.

Dual training is particularly valuable when caring for patients with complex or unexplained symptoms involving several parts of the body. Rheumatological conditions can affect multiple organs and systems, and patients may have more than one medical problem at the same time.

Experience in both specialties means Dr Dulay can look beyond the joints and consider the whole patient, helping to identify how different symptoms may be connected and ensuring that other medical conditions are not overlooked. This broad approach is especially helpful for patients with complex autoimmune conditions, multiple symptoms, or difficult-to-diagnose rheumatological problems.

He continues to work actively in general medicine alongside his specialist rheumatology practice.
